10 months out!

This past month went fast!!!! It was August 2nd before I knew it...and now just getting around to writing!

Like the past couple months I feel like not much is really changing! I still am very up and down with workout motivation, these past 2 weeks I have been less consistent- which is annoying because I was doing SUPER well for awhile! I have been trying to keep up with the back squats (with my cambered bar...that external rotation still is not great- so don't really want to force it with squatting) and have done some strict pressing with a bar...oh my goodness- my mid back REALLY felt that!

I have been trying to do something new on the monthaversary of surgery each month. This month...like I said it crept up on me! I was at work (at my PT job) and we were watching the CrossFit Games there. One of my patients was asking me about competing & if I still wanted to compete at the games. Here is how the conversation went:

Me: "I would love to, but I am not sure my shoulder would allow me to all of those things, especially at that volume anymore."

Patient: "Well, like what kinds of things?"

Me: " Like lift heavy, muscle-ups, handstand walking..."

Patient: "Well have you tried handstand walking yet?"

Me: "No, but this is actually my 10 month anniversary...so maybe I should"

So- she took my phone to record (because shouldn't you all see that if I can do it?!) and I tried. I gave it 3 attempts. I think my record was 6 steps! 6 steps more than I have done with this new shoulder..so we will call it a win. New stuff like that hurts & is sore after...so do I need to do it all the time? No way! But it does feel nice to be moving in that direction!

One more thing. When we got the house and did TONS of painting my shoulder would get super tired and really I had to have lots of wonderful people help me. This past week I did a little home reno project (stay tuned for that!) and did all the painting myself! So that shoulder is definitely better than it was before!
